RIP elliott

“what is that?”

We found out today that Elliot, a friendly Basset Hound we see nearly every weekend, died a few weeks ago due to an unexpected seizure. They have no idea what happened, but his replacement – a puppy Basset that will grow to be huge (you should see the paws on this guy), joined them today. Bye bye, Elliot. Welcome puppy!

Summer Saturdays at the beach tend to be crowded and frenetic, but the overcast skies, drizzle and cool breeze kept many indoors this morning. Yeah for us! A nice lazy morning with caramel mochas, except for the spastic, wet Golden Retriever that wouldn’t stop jumping on me and thought my wrist was a chew toy.

Our Frenchies tend to draw attention, mostly from people wondering what breed they are. When Tempest was a puppy, we got the question “what is that?” often. As if she weren’t even a dog. Today, she gets more of the “is that a Pug mixed with a [insert breed]?”

# of times today asked “what kind of dog is that?”: 3
