dog beach is people beach, too

I try to take our Frenchies to the beach every day, and I used to believe it was only for the dogs. Yes, they can be a handful if I don’t let them run around for 30-60 minutes each morning, and it beneficial – especially when they are young – to socialize them so they know how to act and play with other dogs (and people).

I recently realized that beach visits are as important for me as they are for TempTide. I get to play with the other humans, enjoy the sights, sounds & smells of the ocean, experience new critters, and watch the surfers – and the walk each morning certainly isn’t bad for my health.

Today was one of these days where I was talking so much, I lost track of time – and even of Riptide. Once I realized he was halfway down the beach, he was too far away to hear me calling him. I watched him run around looking for me, looking somewhat nervous. When he finally spotted me, he ran straight for me, jumping and nuzzling against my legs. Good boy. Let’s go home and sleep (I’ll work while you sleep, that is).
