moonset to sunrise

Sometimes I could just kick myself in the ass for not thinking just a few seconds before leaving the house! Ronnie and I realized last night that we had a great chance of seeing the moon set this morning. It’s only clear enough once or twice a year to see it, and it’s been almost 4 years since the last time we caught it.

Moonsets happen the morning before the full moon, so you’d think we’d have a chance every month. But, thanks to the marine layer and smog (and occasionally fire smoke), you can’t see a thing. When we realized we were going to be lucky this morning, we headed to the beach early – with camera in hand. Of course, had a stopped for 2 seconds, I would have realized I’d need the SLR. Low light + no flash + handy small digital camera = fuzzy photo.

So, here are pics from this morning. The moonset and sunrise would have been much more crystal had I brought the good camera. Maybe I’ll have another chance soon to redeem myself. Argh.

Regardless, it was a fantastic moonset, sunrise and morning with the dogs.

Here are some of the dogs from this morning…

[Don't know this guy, but ran into him on the way out.]
