We stayed in yesterday after waking up to rain that led to an overcast, dreary day. Too much Guitar Hero and football, not enough sand and waves.
Today, the sunshine reappeared and is expected to last all week. Not a bad way to end the holidays and start a new year.

Oh how I miss the beach. You are so lucky – it takes us three hours of driving to get sand in our toes!
