dave says, "what do you mean, 4th leg?"

Today, Ronnie, Jen (Ozzy’s Mom) watched in awe as this yellow Labrador ran in and out of the water with its litter mate. It was running fast and chasing the ball, just like his buddy. Only… he was missing a front leg. Meet Dave. I swear he doesn’t know he’s supposed to have 4 of them.

Dave’s owner, Mike, told us he was hit by a car when he was 2. Now 3, Dave’s only been a tripod for a year. Simply amazing. Mike was very open about sharing Dave’s story, but what was best was his response to the question: “Was he born without a leg?”

Mike’s response: “No, he and his litter mate, Paul, looked exactly alike, and I needed a way to tell them apart.” [I love sick humor. :) ]

[Dave waits for Mike to throw the ball. Paul always beat him to it, but it wasn't due to lack of effort.]

And here are a couple of pics from yesterday…

[This is Wally, a neighbor of ours. First time we've seen him at the beach, but he was having a blast! Not so sure his humans enjoyed the work it took to get him clean again after the fact, though.]

[This Basset Hound does his best impression of Sally Field (a "Flying Nun" reference for those of you not familiar with 60s TV).]

Tempest seems to be amused by the ears! And I so wish Dave could have a chance to get to the ball first!

You captured some great shots today, Jen! Hey, I have a question for you….do you have any quick tips on how to clean them up after a run at the beach??? I will definitely have my hands full with all three of mine on the beach!! Especially, LadyBug….she just loves to ROLL in stuff….I hate it!! She’s supposed to be a girly-girl! Not. She’s my tomboy!!

Gennasus – no doubt. Tempest was in a fun mood that day!Jeanne – I wish I had some cleaning tips for you, but my dogs are super easy. Their coats are short and low-maintenance. All I do is rub them down with a towel before taking them in the house.
