I first showed you Maya, the Thai Ridgeback, last weekend. I’m finding myself fascinated by her. We used to avoid her like the plague. I know her silhouette from yards away (even without my contacts) and would head the other direction when I saw her. Now that she practically ignores my dogs and is playful with others, I find myself drawn to her every time I see her. It’s as if she’s learning how to play after all this time (she’s 4). She still gets in fights with dogs, but the following shots are all Maya at play.
Update: I talked to Paul, Maya’s human, this morning. He said it’s taken him 4 years to get her to this point. Lots of patience, love and hard work – but it’s paying off.
I call this one the Maya Munch. Maybe it’s the fact that the other dog’s head is missing, but the shot feels scary. But, she was just having fun (mutually) with the other playmate.
This shot (I’ll call it Maya Downward Dog) and the next are from last weekend, and they show Maya being submissive to other dogs. I wish I had the ability to record her little dance on video. It kinda gives me chills (in a good way).

Maya is super pretty – love that color. She looked soo cute trying to show her playful side… Bell would probably run right up to her
she’s fearless until somedog barks at her then she’ll leave em alone
I went hiking with a group of friends, Maya, and another very submissive dog. Maya was very aggressive towards other dog for most of the day. But by the end of the day, both dogs worn out, Maya went over and snuggled up to the other dog in the shade. It was too funny. We all had to stop what we were doing to take pics.
maya is a very pretty dog – thanks for sharing
