christmas week begins

The Ocean Beach (OB) Christmas tree is a tradition as unique as the community from which it originates. Each year, a very sad looking tree is planted right in the sand and decorated with beach balls and ornaments made from* local children.

This year’s tree screams A Charlie Brown Christmas. This angle doesn’t show the slight slant to the right as you drive down Newport Avenue. This tree gives me a big old smile every time I see it.

Merry Christmas week to all who celebrate it!

*Update: a reader caught my absolutely horrifying grammar mistake. The ornaments are made BY children, not FROM children. Oops ;)

Oh I don't know. There are quite a few children in my neighborhood who would benefit by being made into ornaments! :)
